You survived your first year of life, little girl!! And you put smiles on our faces the whole way through! That was the fastest year ever. And so wonderful...because of you! You are the sunshiniest little girl in the world. You're so smiley and happy. You laugh easily, and make faces constantly. You give more kisses than any other kid I've seen. You are just such a joy to be around. We absolutely love you to bits and pieces.
Your stats at 1 year..... height: 2'5" (57th%), weight: 16 lbs (6th%), head circ: 50th%. And your BMI isn't even on the chart. Not even close. This means that your weight for height ratio is way low. And Dr. Salek isn't happy about it. On the plus side, your head is rounding out nicely, so we're not worried about that anymore. On the not-so-positive side, we have to take you to a neurologist to check out your recent bouts of passing out. You've done it 4 times in 2 months. You bonk your head, not even very hard at all, and start to scream. After a while, there's no more sound coming out and you haven't taken a breath yet. We start to panic a little and blow in your face until, finally, you take a big breath and cry some more. But then a few seconds later, you lose consciousness and turn white. Your eyes roll but you don't jerk or twitch at all. Then after a few more seconds, you come to again and just want to cuddle and sleep. It scares me every time. Dr. Salek thinks it's just breath-holding spells, a natural reflex to something painful or startling, but there's a chance that it's something more, so we're going to check it out! Your new nickname is Hayden the Co-Pay Kid. It's a good thing we love you because you're costing us a small fortune :)
You're crawling, you started that at 8 months. You still do it like a little ape though, on both hands but with your left knee down and your right food on the ground. Kind of like you're pushing a scooter with your right foot. It's so so cute!! You're pulling yourself up to standing and starting to cruise along the furniture. As far as talking, you have your own funny little language. You use lots of "s" and "t" sounds, which Saylor loves because it sounds like you're saying "Say Say" a lot. You don't call me or Daddy anything, you don't really even say "mama" or "dada" at all. You point to things and say "Whassat?" or "Whasis?" and those count as your first, and only, words. You're still obsessed with animals, especially dogs. You are starting to learn animal sounds: you pant for a dog, make that spitty sound for an elephant, moo, you say ooo ooo for an owl, sometimes you kind of meow, you do the thing with your lips for a horse, and you open and close your mouth for a fish. So sweet. You love chocolate chips, anything sweet. You're so good at sucking through a straw and drinking out of a cup. We're almost totally weaned, I can't believe we made it a whole year!! And then some! You're awesome. You're still not sleeping through the night, but you're doing better. You wake up to eat at 11, and then you wake up and want to eat at 4 but I'm trying to break you of that one. You still take a nap at 9:30 am and 2 pm, but you've been fighting the morning one so bad lately. Stinker. You kiss us all the time. It's my favorite thing you do. I love it because you do it all on your own and you even suck your lips in and make the smacking sound. Perfect.
Everywhere we go people comment on how beautiful your eyes are. Everyday. And about how small you are. You love to pull your eyebrows down in the middle and make this cute little crusty. You love it when I kiss your chin and you laugh and laugh. You love Daddy and Saylor and Beckam so much. You're still pretty nervous if I'm out of sight, though.
